That Place

That place. Have you ever been there? You know the one. The place where you feel stuck. You don't know where to go, what to do, because really all you want to do is pull your hair out one strand at a time.

I have been there. This "place" could be a metaphor for a state of mind or it could be an actual place. Without focusing on where or what the actual site of frustration is, let's focus on how to make it a side thought rather than the focus of our attention.

Think about what the frustration is, and then think about something that makes you happy, that makes you feel calm. For someone like me who has a very easy time losing focus, this could be fun. Really, though. Think about what it is or where you are that is frustrating you. Then, think about something else. I am not suggesting that you ignore the annoying place, person, etc. I am just advising you to take a break for a second and go back to it. If it's something that you don't need to do, forget about it. If it is, on the other hand, important, then try to direct your focus as to why it is a positive thing that you're going to that appointment, working at that job, completing that assignment.

You may be asking yourself why on Earth I am writing such a "self-helpy" post rather than giving you a recipe. Especially since it's Monday and all you really want to do is eat candy and pretend it's Saturday. To tell you the truth, I guess I just needed a pep talk this morning and thought that I would share it with you.

I hope that you have a wonderful, stress free day. Focus on the good and forget about the rest. Well, at least give yourself a break for a minute. :)

Oops

I think it's safe to say I made a few blogging mistakes yesterday. First, I said that I was going to experiment with a cauliflower pizza crust recipe that was also Paleo in nature. I was only half wrong. The crust was Paleo because it just included cauliflower, eggs, and spices. The toppings, which included cheese, however, were not. From what I have been reading, dairy does not fit into the Paleo lifestyle because it wasn't available in the Paleolithic age, which is the basis of this eating style.

The other mistake that I made is that I said I would take pictures. I did take one of the crust, but that's where it ended. My love and I were so hungry that we pretty much laid the cookie sheet on the table and devoured the whole thing. It was definitely good, but it wasn't really "crust" like. That was more my fault though, because I didn't measure the flax seed meal that I was using as an egg replacement.

My plan is to try the recipe again next week. Expect pictures this time! :) I want to leave you with this article. Be sure to read the last few sentences under the "Bottom Line." This really struck a chord with me. My real goal in trying this or any eating style is to feel fit and healthy. Maybe I will just follow a paleovegetarianglutenfreewithsomesugar diet.

I hope that you're enjoying your day. It's almost Friday!!

Playing with my Food

I'm sorry that I haven't been around in a while. Like I said in my previous post, I have been focusing on other things. I have also been fiddling with my eating style. Does instantly saying "fiddling" make me age twenty years? Anyway...

I went to a nutritionist a couple of weeks ago. Without getting into the gory details, I was not too happy about the results of my body fat composition test. I was only five percent over the average for my age, height, etc...but it got me thinking. If I am five percent over now, where am I going to be in five years?

My nutritionist created an eating plan for me to follow that is based around eating a lot of protein and not a lot of carbs. This is not the most fun thing I have done, but I did see positive results in less than a week. I am having a harder time this week, though. I find myself craving sugar like no tomorrow. Without droning on and on, let me tell you what this means for me and you.

I am going to start experimenting with other eating habits, including the Paleo lifestyle. I have found a lot of blogs with some really creative, delicious looking recipes. In fact, I am going to try this tonight. The great thing about the Paleo way of eating is that since it is a grain free eating style, many recipes are naturally gluten free!

Please note that I am not at all trying to pressure you into eating this or any other way. I am just trying to play around with different options and figure out what works best for me and the Coach. I will make sure to post the results of my pizza adventure tomorrow, so be sure to come back.

I hope that you have a great day!
